Liturgy and Prayer

The person of Jesus Christ is at the center of an authentic Christian life, and so we give a central place to the celebration of the Mass at St. John's.  Weekly liturgies and daily prayer allow us to ground ourselves and the tumult of modern life in the peace that Christ promised ("These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace..."--John 16:33).  Most Wednesdays the high school encounters Christ in the Eucharist at 9:30 Mass.  The First Friday of every month the grade school and high school gather together at 2:00 pm for Eucharistic Adoration.

Others are welcome to join us for either of these celebrations of our faith.

Service

Service is an integral part of the Christian life.  It is an expression of our love for Christ, and a reminder that our fellow men and women are members of the Body of Christ.  This schoolyear (2007-2008) will see changes in the service program for St. John's.  Among those changes is the new restriction that half of the assigned service hours be fulfilled at approved sites--with the other half capable of being completed performing service at St. John's.   Stay tuned to this page for approved service sites and group service events.

Class Retreats
Each class goes on retreat during the academic year.  Freshman begin their year getting to know each other and discovering the gifts the Holy Spirit has given them.  Over the course of two half-days, the new members of the St. John's community are led by Mr. Miller and the STUCO members in a number of exercises, activities, and icebreakers.  Sophomores and Juniors have a day-long Retreat, held by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart or the Archdiocesan Reap Team.  Seniors have a two-day, one-night stay at the Marianist Retreat Center in scenic Eureka, Missouri.
